REVERSIBILITY

Stands for a certain degree of fitness obtained won't last forever. We have to work (hard) for it to maintain or increase fitness. If training is reduced or ceases reversal of adaptation will occur. If we only workout two to three times a week fitness will maintain; if we do more, fitness will increase. It also means that fitness obtained over a longer period will last longer than fitness obtained over a shorter period.
